YOUR LOCAL RIVERHILLS PEST CONTROL TEAM
A suburb with a 47 hectare reserve on its doorstep
Riverhills is a small Centenary suburb in Jamboree Ward, about 19.5 kilometres south-west of the CBD and only 2.3 square kilometres, with 4,121 residents. It borders Westlake, Middle Park, Sumner, Wacol, Moggill and Bellbowrie, shares the shoreline of the Pullen reach of the Brisbane River with Westlake, and has Wolston Creek along its southern boundary.
Like its neighbours it is almost entirely detached housing: 1,321 separate houses at 87%, 196 townhouses, and no flats recorded at all in the 2021 census. The name was proposed by the developer, Centenary Estates, in 1972, and the first housing went in around Bogong Street, with the later western streets threaded through neighbourhood open space.
What sets Pest Control Riverhills apart from the rest of the Centenary group is how much bush it lives against. Wolston Creek Bushland Reserve covers roughly 47 hectares next to Sumners Road, saved from development by residents lobbying government and gazetted as a reserve in 2003. Living on a bush edge is a genuine privilege and it does change what turns up in your yard.

WHAT WE TREAT: PEST CONTROL RIVERHILLS
Rodent control, spiders and general pests, and termite management
The full detail of each service lives on our site wide service pages, linked under each card.

Rodent control in Riverhills
A large bushland reserve and a river reach mean permanent rodent habitat next door, and native rodents live in bushland quite legitimately. What we are managing is the introduced species that move from that cover into your roof, shed and garage, usually as the weather cools or after heavy rain.
The properties that stay clear are the ones that have been proofed: sealed roof and eave gaps, screened vents, gaps under doors, and no easy ladder from an overhanging branch to the roofline. Bait alone against a 47 hectare reserve is not a plan.

Spiders, ants and general pest control in Riverhills
Bush edge properties get more spiders, particularly in eaves, sheds, fence lines and around outdoor furniture, and more of the outdoor cockroach and ant activity that comes with mulch, leaf litter and mature gardens. General pest treatment here is mostly about the perimeter, the eaves and the outbuildings rather than the inside of the house.

Termite inspections in Riverhills
Bushland means a healthy native termite population, which is exactly as it should be, and it means the pressure on nearby buildings is real. Homes here largely date from the 1970s and 1980s, so many predate the modern requirements and most have had decades of decks, sheds, retaining walls and garden beds added since.
Timber retaining walls, sleepers, old fence posts and firewood stacked against the house are the usual activity sites we find on bush edge blocks, and they are worth checking before we even get to the building.

What we do not do: snakes and protected wildlife
We would rather say this plainly than take a booking we should not. Snakes are protected under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 and it is an offence to kill, injure or take them, so if a snake is in your house you want a licensed snake catcher, not a pest controller. Queensland’s environment department is clear on the safe response: close internal doors, open external doors and give it a chance to leave, and never try to handle or kill it, since a high proportion of snake bites happen when people interfere with them.
Possums are protected too, so that job is exclusion and repair once the animal has left, plus disinfecting to remove the scent, not a treatment.
LIVING ON THE BUSH EDGE
Built for properties backing onto reserve and river
Honest caveat: We cannot and would not treat the reserve, and we do not remove snakes or protected wildlife. What we do is make your building and its immediate surrounds a poor option, and tell you honestly when the right call is a licensed wildlife handler instead of us.
THE PRACTICAL SIDE OF PEST CONTROL RIVERHILLS
Working around Riverhills
Local fact: Wolston Creek Bushland Reserve exists because residents fought for it. The land was saved from development through community lobbying, became a bushland reserve in 2003, and is now co-managed with council’s Habitat Brisbane program, with the Westlake and Riverhills Bushcare Group active on the riverfront bushland since about 1992. It is a good reminder that the bush next door is deliberate, and worth working with rather than against.

Questions from Riverhills homeowners
We Back Onto The Reserve. Can You Stop Things Coming Into The Yard?
Not into the yard, no, and nobody honestly can. What we can do is stop them getting into the building, and reduce the harbourage close to the house. On bush edge blocks that is the realistic goal and it works well.
