Pest Control Moggill
Pest & Termite Solutions for Moggill Acreage and Estate Homes
National Pest Solutions looks after homes on both sides of Moggill’s fence lines, the older acreage blocks and remaining farm paddocks, and the newer small lot streets built on the old pineapple ground around Witty Road and Priors Pocket Road. Same suburb, two very different pest jobs.
YOUR LOCAL MOGGILL PEST CONTROL TEAM
Two kinds of Moggill property, two different pest problems
Moggill sits about 22 km south west of the Brisbane CBD, at the end of the long run of Moggill Road, with Bellbowrie and Anstead to the north and the Brisbane River wrapping the suburb’s southern and eastern edge down through Priors Pocket. It is a low density suburb of large detached houses: at the 2021 Census, 94.2% of occupied private dwellings in Moggill were separate houses, 5.8% were semi detached or townhouse style, and no flats or apartments were counted at all. Around a fifth of the suburb’s land is still zoned rural or environmental management, which is why paddocks, sheds and dam edges sit within a few hundred metres of brand new roof tiles.
This page covers our general pest control and termite work for Moggill homes, from the streets around Moggill State School on Moggill Road through to the acreage and small lot mix at Priors Pocket. National Pest Solutions is a family owned South East Queensland business, and Moggill is part of our wider Brisbane West coverage alongside Bellbowrie, Anstead, Pullenvale, Kenmore and Brookfield.
The reason Moggill needs a local eye is the seam between the two halves of the suburb. On the rural side you have long grass, timber outbuildings, water tanks, stacked firewood, on site sewage and stock feed, all of which support ants, rodents and termite colonies quietly and for years. On the estate side you have slab on ground houses with young gardens, new retaining walls and mulched beds, put down on ground that was farmed until relatively recently. A pest that has been living in a paddock does not know where the survey pegs are, and a new house on the boundary is often the first thing it walks into.

MYTH BUSTER
Does acreage automatically mean more pests?
Not automatically. Plenty of Moggill acreage blocks are cleaner than a tightly packed suburban street, and plenty of small estate blocks have more pest pressure than the paddock next door. What actually decides it is what sits within a metre or two of the building, and that is the same test on a five acre block as on a 700 square metre one. The conditions we look for are:
- Timber in contact with soil: fence posts, retaining sleepers, stumps, garden edging, stored offcuts under the house or in a shed.
- Firewood, pallets, hay or feed bags stacked against a wall or a shed skin.
- Water where it should not be: leaking tank fittings, a dripping garden tap, air conditioning discharge, blocked downpipes, irrigation running against a slab edge.
- Mulch and soil piled over a slab edge, weep holes or an inspection zone, which hides the exact area we need to see.
- Long grass, weedy fence lines and unmanaged paddock edges running right up to the building.
- Sheds, carports, pump houses and pool pump enclosures that never get looked at.
So we assess the individual property rather than assuming the block size tells the story. A short walk around the outside of the house usually explains most of what is happening inside it.
WHAT WE TREAT IN MOGGIILL
General pest control, termite management and small commercial work
Moggill work splits three ways for us. Below is what each one looks like locally. The full detail of each service lives on our single site wide service pages, linked from each card, because there is one page per service across the whole site rather than a copy for every suburb.

General pest control in Moggill
Most Moggill callouts are the classic outside-in pests: ants tracking in along a slab edge, cockroaches in a laundry or shed, spiders through eaves and verandah corners, and rodents that have moved off a paddock or a creek line. We treat the perimeter, the entry points and the harbourage rather than just the room where the pest was seen, and on the larger blocks that includes the outbuildings, because a shed left untreated simply restocks the house.
Local fact: Moggill covers roughly 11.8 square kilometres, and about 13% of its lots are still zoned rural, so a large share of homes here share a boundary with grass or bush rather than with another house.

Termite inspections and management in Moggill
Termite work here has to account for age and construction in the same street. Older Moggill homes are often high set with a subfloor, timber decks and stumps, and additions built over decades. The post 2004 estate homes are slab on ground, where the risk sits at the slab perimeter, in the weep holes and behind the landscaping that has grown over it since handover. Both are inspected properly, and both need the exterior treated as part of the answer.
Local fact: Queensland’s building rules require a termite management system on new Class 1 homes, with a durable notice fixed in the building, so on newer Moggill homes we look for that notice first to see what was installed and when.

Commercial and food safe pest control in Moggill
Moggill is overwhelmingly residential, but it does have a small neighbourhood centre and a state primary school, plus the rural sheds, packing and equine style buildings that come with a semi rural suburb. That is the commercial work available here: schools and childcare style sites, a local shop or kitchen, and rural or storage buildings that need a documented program rather than a one off spray.
Local fact: Moggill State School is at 3417 Moggill Road, Moggill, confirmed on the Queensland Department of Education schools directory ([outbound authority link: https://schoolsdirectory.eq.edu.au/Details/0073]
COMMON MOGGILL PESTS WE TREAT

Ants
Coastal brown and black house ants track along slab edges, driveway joints and paths, then find the kitchen. We treat the trails and the nesting areas outside, not just the ants you can see indoors.

Cockroaches
German cockroaches ride in with cartons and groceries and settle in warm kitchen voids, while larger species come in from drains, garden beds and bin areas after dark. Treatment targets harbourage, not open surfaces.

Rats & Mice
Rats and mice move in from drainage lines, dense vegetation and commercial bin areas, then use roof spaces and wall cavities. Older brick homes that have settled often have a gap at the eaves or roller door big enough to matter.

Spiders
Webbing spiders take over eaves, patios and pergolas on low set brick homes, and ground dwellers favour retaining walls, rockeries and mulched beds. We treat exteriors and clear webbing so it is obvious what has been done.

Silverfish
Treatment for silverfish activity in cupboards, storage spaces and other protected areas.

Fleas and other household pests
Treatment options for a wide variety of crawling, scurrying and flying pests.
WHY THE RAIL AND WAREHOUSE EDGE MATTERS HERE
Built for paddock edges, older acreage buildings and new slab estates
Moggill’s housing came in waves. It was a farming district for well over a century, with pineapples grown on the red clay soils around Witty Road and Priors Pocket Road, and from the mid 2000s that farmland began to be subdivided into housing at an average block size well under the old acreage standard. The result is a suburb where a 1970s or 1980s acreage home with a subfloor, sheds and a tank can sit directly across a fence from a house that was handed over last decade on a slab. Add the Brisbane River frontage and the low lying river flats at Priors Pocket, and you have moisture, cover and food sitting in the same suburb as two very different building types.
What we do differently because of it:
Local fact: At the 2021 Census, not a single flat or apartment was recorded in Moggill and 94.2% of occupied dwellings were separate houses, so almost every job here is a detached home with its own yard, subfloor or slab to inspect.
Honest caveat: How often a Moggill property should be inspected or treated depends on the construction, the age of the building, the boundary it sits on and what we find on the day. We assess it on site and tell you plainly, rather than quoting a fixed interval before we have seen the place.
THE PRACTICAL SIDE
Working around Moggill
Moggill’s layout is long and narrow, hung off Moggill Road, with cul de sac estate streets on one side and long driveways on the other. That changes how we plan a visit.
Local fact: Moggill State School sits on Moggill Road in the middle of the suburb, so mid morning appointments usually avoid both the school run and the afternoon pickup on the main road.

TERMITE INSPECTIONS MOGGILL
A newer estate home is not a termite proof home
Termites do not care whether a house is two years old or fifty. On the newer Moggill estates, the risk is usually the slab perimeter being bridged by soil, mulch, a garden bed or a retaining wall added after handover. On the older acreage homes it is timber in ground contact, stumps, decks, tanks stands and shed frames. Our residential inspections currently incorporate traditional sounding, thermal imaging and moisture testing, with a full written report so you can see what was checked and what needs fixing.
We inspect the building, its subfloor and roof void where accessible, the fence lines, retaining structures, outbuildings and any stored timber, then explain what is a live problem and what is simply a condition worth changing.
MOGGILL TERMITE TREATMENTS
Where activity is found, treatment is matched to the building and the site, not to a product preference.
Important: if you find live termites, do not spray them and do not disturb the workings. Doing so scatters the colony and makes it far harder to treat properly. Cover it back up, leave it alone and call us on 1300 356 691.

OUTDOOR LIVING IN MOGGILL
Moggill lives outside. Westaway Park on Witty Road has playground and picnic facilities, and Moggill Ferry Reserve at the end of Moggill Road looks straight out over the Brisbane River. Bring that lifestyle home and it is the same picture on most properties: a covered patio, a pool, a lawn running down to a fence line and a shed at the back.
Those are exactly the areas where nuisance pests show up. Mosquitos breed in anything holding water, from a tank overflow to a pot plant saucer or a blocked gutter. Wasps and spiders take up the eaves and the pergola. Ants find the outdoor kitchen. Lawn grubs and armyworm turn a good lawn patchy over a couple of weeks. We treat the outdoor living zone as part of the job, so the space you actually use is covered.
RODENT CONTROL MOGGILL
Rodents are a rural fringe reality, and Moggill’s paddocks, long grass, feed storage and river flats give them somewhere to live until a building looks more appealing. Cooler weather, slashing and heavy rain all push them towards houses and sheds.
Signs worth acting on:
We work out how they are getting in, treat and monitor with placements kept away from children and pets, and tell you which gaps, vents or door seals need fixing so the next lot cannot follow.

COMMERCIAL PEST CONTROL MOGGILL
The commercial work in Moggill is small scale and local, and it is documented: a neighbourhood centre zoning at the local shops, a state primary school on Moggill Road, and rural and storage buildings across the acreage side of the suburb.
We work with:
Programs include scheduled treatments, rodent monitoring, documented reporting for auditors, and food safe options where food is handled. National Pest Solutions is QBCC licensed, CM3 certified and Queensland Health accredited, which is usually what a site’s paperwork needs to see.

PEST CONTROL MOGGILL FAQS
Questions from Moggill homeowners
My House Is Only A Few Years Old, In One Of The Newer Estates. Do I Still Need A Termite Inspection?
Yes. A new Queensland home is built with a termite management system, but that system is designed to deter concealed attack, not to remove the need for inspections. Landscaping, retaining walls and garden beds added after handover are the most common way that protection gets bridged on Moggill’s newer blocks.
