Carina Pest Control

National Pest Solutions covers general pest control, rodents and termite inspections across Carina, from the post-war streets off Mayfield Road to the townhouse complexes and businesses along Old Cleveland Road and Creek Road.

YOUR LOCAL CARINA PEST CONTROL TEAM

The most mixed housing of any suburb we cover on this side of town

Carina sits about 7 kilometres east of the CBD in Brisbane’s Doboy Ward, bordered by Camp Hill, Carina Heights, Carindale, Cannon Hill, Seven Hills and Tingalpa. It grew quickly through the 1950s and 60s, including several Housing Commission estates, and it has kept infilling since.

That history shows up in the census. At 2021 Carina had 2,613 separate houses, 1,589 townhouses or semi-detached homes and 513 flats, so roughly 45 per cent of the suburb lives in something other than a standalone house. Very few suburbs we work in are split that evenly, and it changes the job: a single unit treated in isolation rarely holds when the complex either side of the wall is untreated.

This page covers the general pest, rodent and termite work we do inside Carina. We are a South East Queensland business and cover the neighbouring eastern suburbs on the same run, so you are not waiting days for someone to get across town.

WHAT WE TREAT IN CARINA

General pest control, termite management and food safe work

Carina needs all three sides of what we do, and in fairly even measure: ageing family homes, a large body corporate market, and a real commercial and light industrial strip. The full detail of each service lives on our site wide service pages, linked under each card.

General pest control and rodents in Carina

Ants, cockroaches, spiders and rodents are the bread and butter here. Rodents in particular are a Carina staple: older lowset homes with original subfloors and vents, townhouse complexes with shared roof spaces and communal bin areas, and a mixed-use pocket east of Creek Road where commercial waste sits close to housing. We proof and bait rather than just bait, because in attached housing the bait alone just moves the problem next door.

*Local fact:* Brisbane City Council notes that rats damage doors, skirting boards, food containers and electrical wiring, and carry diseases transmissible to humans, and that both burrowing and climbing rats turn up in Brisbane homes and gardens ([Brisbane City Council, invasive species](https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/topics/rats)).

High Termite Activity in Brisbane

Termite inspections and management in Carina

Carina’s housing is mostly old enough that whatever termite protection it started with is long past its service life, and much of it predates the modern standards entirely. Lowset post-war homes have low clearances and enclosed subfloors that make access awkward, while newer townhouse blocks are slab on ground with landscaping built right up to the edge. Both need inspecting, just differently.

*Local fact:* Much of Carina sits in the Bulimba Creek catchment, and the Clem Jones Centre at 56 Zahel Street was built on swamp land off Creek Road that had to be cleared and drained, which tells you plenty about the ground conditions in the lower parts of the suburb.

Commercial and food safe pest control in Carina

Old Cleveland Road carries a long commercial strip through Carina, and there is mixed-use industrial land east of Creek Road, plus the Clem Jones Centre with its own food and function operations. Kitchens, storage areas and back of house need a documented program with records rather than a spray on request, and we are HACCP certified through Compass Assurance for that work.

WHY ATTACHED HOUSING AND LOW GROUND MATTER

Built for townhouse complexes, post-war houses and damp low-lying ground

Two things shape the work in Carina: how much of it shares walls, and how low some of it sits.

Attached housing needs a whole of complex plan. Rodents and cockroaches move through shared roof cavities, party walls, garages and bin rooms. We would rather quote the complex properly than treat one lot and have you ring us back in six weeks.
Post-war homes have low subfloors. Clearances are tight, vents are often blocked by later landscaping, and the original timber is still in service. We inspect it properly rather than working from the perimeter.
Low ground holds moisture. The parts of Carina in the Bulimba Creek catchment, and the drained ground around Creek Road, stay damper for longer after rain, which favours subterranean termites and gives rodents good harbourage.
Mixed-use edges bring pressure. Where light industrial and commercial land backs onto housing east of Creek Road, rodent activity moves between the two. Proofing the house matters as much as treating it.
Renovations and extensions. Half a century of additions means added slabs, enclosed carports and patios, each one a potential concealed path from soil to structure.

*Honest caveat:* In a townhouse or unit, we can only guarantee what we can access. If the complex will not authorise common property work, we will treat your lot and tell you honestly what the limits of that are, rather than promising a result we cannot control.

THE PRACTICAL SIDE

Working around Carina

Carina is easy to get around compared with the older character suburbs, but body corporates and busy roads add their own wrinkles. A few practical notes.

Old Cleveland Road and Creek Road carry heavy traffic, so we schedule the arterial frontage jobs away from peak where we can.
Body corporate or building manager approval is usually needed for common property, roof voids and exterior treatments in complexes. We are happy to deal with the manager directly and quote the complex as a whole.
For lowset homes, we need the subfloor hatch clear and any under-house storage moved back far enough to get through.
Around the Clem Jones Centre and the sporting fields, parking is easiest mid-morning outside training and event times.
Products are applied by trained technicians per label and QLD Health requirements. Tell us at booking about pets, chooks, fish tanks and children and we will plan placement around them.

*Local fact:* Carina’s shape as a suburb comes from its 1950s and 60s growth, including several Housing Commission estates, which is why so many streets share one housing type and age, and why pest problems here often run street-wide rather than house by house.

NEARBY SUBURBS WE COVER

Pest control around Carina

Carina sits in our Brisbane eastern suburbs service area, and we cover the suburbs around it on the same run: Camp Hill, Carina Heights, Carindale, Cannon Hill, Seven Hills and Tingalpa. The bushland on the Seven Hills side and the Bulimba Creek corridor to the east both push pest pressure back toward the housing, so we work the area as one patch rather than isolated jobs.

CARINA PEST CONTROL FAQS

Questions from Carina homeowners

  • I live in a townhouse. Can you just treat my place?

We can, and sometimes that is all that is needed. But in attached housing, pests use the shared walls, roof space and garages, so treating one lot often just relocates the problem. If the complex will authorise it, a whole of complex treatment gives a far better result per dollar, and we are happy to quote it that way for the body corporate.
