School Safe Pest Control for Schools and Daycares

Child-Safe Treatments. Flexible Scheduling. Built for Southeast Queensland Schools.

Commercial Kitchen Pest Control & Food Safety Compliance

Schools and daycares bring together the two things pests need most: food and people. Kitchens, canteens, outdoor eating areas, and bin enclosures create constant pressure points, and the children moving through these spaces every day need properly protected environments.

National Pest Solutions delivers school safe pest control programs across Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Caboolture and greater Southeast Queensland.

Thirty-five years in the industry means we understand what schools need and how to deliver it without disrupting a single class.

Where Pests Show Up in Schools

Schools generate a lot of food activity, and pests follow the food. Commercial kitchens and canteens are the highest-risk zones.

Cockroaches shelter behind equipment, inside drain cavities, and along wall junctions where warmth and moisture are consistent. Rodents move through roof voids and storage rooms before working their way toward food sources. Ants target outdoor eating areas and canteen benches, finding crumbs and residue that regular cleaning misses.

Bin enclosures attract all three, especially during warmer months when activity spikes.

Left untreated, these areas become ongoing harbourage points. A reactive approach only deals with visible activity. A scheduled program keeps pressure on pest populations before they establish.

The pests you need to watch for

Schools in Southeast Queensland face a specific mix of pest pressures depending on location, season, and facility type.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches shelter in commercial kitchen equipment, drain areas, and canteen prep surfaces, spreading bacteria to food contact areas overnight

Rodents

Rodents target bin enclosures, roof voids, and storage rooms, gnawing through packaging and contaminating surrounding areas

Ants

Ants invade outdoor eating zones and canteen benches, with colonies expanding fast once a food source is identified

Flies

Flies surge through summer months around bin areas and food service zones, creating hygiene risks in open canteen environments

Drain Flies

Drain Flies breed inside commercial kitchen drains, multiplying quickly in warm, organic-rich conditions

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes become a serious concern for schools near waterways or rainforest corridors, particularly across the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast hinterland regions

The hidden risks with spiders and stinging ants

Some of the most significant pest risks in schools sit away from the kitchen entirely.

Spiders move into the spaces that see the least foot traffic: sports storage sheds, the roof structures of auditoriums, garden beds along fence lines, and equipment bays. Children access these areas during PE classes, school events, and recess, often without any adult supervision. Web-building and venomous species both pose a real sting and bite risk in these environments.

Stinging ants present a similar concern in grassed outdoor areas and garden borders. For younger children in particular, a sting from a jack jumper or green-headed ant can trigger serious reactions.

National Pest Solutions uses targeted misting treatments to clear spiders from roof voids, sheds, and external structures. Ant sprays address trails and colony activity along outdoor perimeters and hard surfaces. Both treatments use products appropriate for school environments.

Our treatment programs

NPS programs for schools combine multiple treatment methods into a single, coordinated approach.

✅ Rodent Bait Boxes placed in secured, low-traffic areas away from students and staff

✅ Ant Bait Stations positioned at entry points and outdoor eating zones using targeted, child-safe formulations

✅ Spider Misting Treatments applied to roof voids, storage sheds, and external structures

✅ Cockroach and Ant Sprays targeting kitchen perimeters, canteen areas, and bin enclosures

✅ Child-safe, school-approved products used at every visit across all treatment areas

Scheduling that works around your school

Treatments can run during school holidays, on weekends, or before and after school hours. Students and staff experience zero disruption, and there is no downtime to your kitchen or canteen operations. For daycares with strict operating hours, early morning bookings keep everything on track.

One-off treatments manage active infestations. Scheduled programs are what prevent them from returning. NPS recommends regular treatment cycles tailored to your facility size, pest history, and seasonal risk factors across Southeast Queensland.
